Late July of last year, we issued a research note on RoodMicrotec with the title ‘near term
uncertainties, long-term opportunities’. This title was a reflection of what happened earlier that year,
when the pandemic did not only interfere with the company’s efforts to refinance its maturing
EUR 2.5m bond loan but also dragged its 1H20 results back into the red (EUR 742k net loss).’

Although the company managed to convince its bondholders to accept a one year’s extension of the
life of this bond, it was unclear at that point in time whether a more structural solution for the
refinancing could be found in time, particularly in view of the risk of a second wave of the pandemic.
